QIDI Tech 1 3D Printer Review | Worth The Hype?

John Stephens by John Stephens
in Brands, QIDI, Reviews

QIDI TECHNOLOGY Dual Extruder 3D Printer QIDI TECH I-Review – The all-new printer from QIDI TECHNOLOGY will help you to connect the printer to the desktop, PC, or laptop. The connection is set up by downloading the recommended MakerBot Replicator.

The printer is compatible with common operating systems from Linux, Mac OSX to Windows. The user needs to just level the print platform accordingly to the instructions and preferences.
The dual extruders allow multi-color printing that ranges between 0.1 to 0.3 millimeters.

The machine has additional support via the PC tether or the SD card. The latest upgrades include wireless function.

The guide will give you relevant data about the QIDI TECHNOLOGY Dual Extruder 3D Printer QIDI TECH I.
Design

The printer has a plate made from aviation-grade aluminum, that prevents warping. The circuitry incorporates enhanced features for preventing static effects while printing.

The printer arrives well packed and fully assembled when you book it online. In addition, the box contains other parts like

  • 1 roll of ABS filament
  • 1 roll of painter’s tape
  • 1 roll of PLA filament
  • 2 filament spool holders
  • A USB cable
  • Filament tubing
  • Power cable
  • 4GB SD card
  • Wiring harnesses
  • Wiring harness holder
  • Tool Box complete that holds fasteners and tools
  • Set of instructions

The assembly is easy to use and straight forward due to the easy-to-follow manual available on the SD card. Though the SD card slot is a bit frustrating, you can find additional guides for setting up the printer properly.

The slot of the SD card is located inside the printer making it a bit convenient to access due to the positioning in the lower right-hand corner.

All you need to do is to mount the dual extruder, then the filament holders, followed by the filament, and finally attach the plexiglass top, walls and door.

You can also incorporate the use of an extra pair of hands for reducing the set-up time.

Dimensions

The device measures 18.3 x 12.6 x 14.76 inches. In millimetres, it is 465 x 320 x 375. It has a heated printer bed that can create printed surfaces up to 9 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches ( precisely 230 x 150 x 150 millimetres). So, the print volume is 313 cubic inches or five litres.

Build Volume

The metal frame and individual weight of the printer are around 46 pounds (21 kilograms).

Print Material

The Qidi Tech printer uses both ABS and PLA filaments. The usual thickness is 1.75 mm. You will also get the ABS and PLA filament spools to get started right after installing and setting up the printer. The better idea is to first try out with TPU, a semi-flexible filament, with no flaws. But, we do not recommend using Ninjaflex filament because it is excessively flexible compared to ABS, PLA, and TPU, which results in the poor-quality prints.

Nozzle Specifications

The nozzle diameter is around 0.4 mm that tends to heat up to 260 degrees Centigrade temperature.

Layer Resolution

The printer works on the Fused Deposition Modeling technology. So, the resultant layer resolution is 100 to 300 micro millimetres and the adjustable layer thickness is of the range 0.1 to 0.3 mm.

Print Quality

The quality is a result of the Dual Extruder. The printer bed can withstand a temperature of 140 degrees Centigrade. But, at the same time, you can see that the extruder goes further to 280.

The adjustable temperatures can be set using the software on the printer. The remarkable part is that the printer doesn’t create annoying noise except for the short alerts.

Besides, for the user, it is better to have ventilation in the room because it lets off toxic fumes.
The dual extruder printer can allow print with two filaments. You can pause the printing session for introducing a different colour.

Accessories

The Extruder 3D printer has two free filament spools. There are some other accessories including the 3D print removal tool and a smoothing pen.

The print removal tool helps to remove the printed object from the print bed. Besides, it also scrapes off leftover plastic.

On the contrary, you can use the smoothing pen for smoothening the exterior surface using acetone. The condition goes true for ABS prints. But, for that, you’ve got to purchase the Acetone.

Compatibility with software

The 3D printer works with systems like Linux, Windows, Mac, and so on. Qidi Tech recommends it’s users to make use of the MakerBot Replicator software.

The printer packaging comes with the SD card along with the software. The remarkable part is that the entire printer set up is easy to install.

When it comes to the SD card you’ll get the sample print files along with the operation manual. You can connect the printer to the computer with the help of a USB port.

Customer Service

The QIDI Tech 3D printer lacks the option for extended warranty. If you face problems during set-up, operation, damage to parts, or lost parts, you can get support from the customer support team.

They will solve all the problems in no time and grant the customer satisfaction.

Staff members respond quickly to emails and another form of queries related to questions, guidance and helpful tips.

If you’re looking forward to getting the replacement parts, you can get them faster than expected. Besides, you don’t have to pay additional amounts for it.

This QIDI Technology 3d printer review is prepared only after taking into consideration the specs and data from reliable sources and users. You can also get the recent research and latest reviews about the Qidi Tech 3D printer.

Pros:

  • With this printer, you can get high-end Tech Support
  • Print Quality is a fabulous one to let it stand out.
  • The durability of this printer is praiseworthy.
  • Touch Screen is a high-end one with vivid functionality
  • Easy to use interface makes the Dual Extruder Desktop 3D printer give full value for money
  • It is good for beginners who are starting with the art of 3D printing.
  • Since it is compatible with ABS and PLA filaments, you don’t have to depend on only one type only

Cons:

  • Usually, it stops working and shutting down without warning after prolonged hours of working
  • The X-axis motor mounted setup works differently that results in the sensor to stop from functioning
  • The outside diameter is great, so they are clamped in a tight manner. This leads the filament to feed continuously on its own
  • After a prolonged span of usage, the nozzles start leaking

Consumer Reviews Regarding the Qidi Tech’s Dual Extruder 3d Printer

86% of customers have provided a rating if 4.5/5 and 4% have rated it 4. These earrings are for the criteria of easy handling and reliability

Eight out of ten users suggest that the model is a good pick available at a reasonable price.

Moreover, the consumer reports suggest that Novices and experts who are new or a pro in the field of 3D print technology find the overall experience with the printer pretty good in terms of printing both simple and complex designs. According to them, if you’re wishing to go ahead with 3D printing.

The most common problems remain, this is the perfect fit printer. Though some people have reported about the heating process and misleading instructions, yet most of the buyers find the printer pretty reliable for both domestic and commercial needs.

The excellent customer service and replacement policies ensure that you don’t have to suffer from problems of glitches arising on a later stage of the purchase.

While using the QIDI Tech I Dual Extruder Desktop 3D Printer, it’s good to remember some points –

  • Do not ever attempt to leave your prints on the printing bed over a prolonged time. We suggest so because leaving things to cool for a longer time on the bed can make it stick.Later you will see that it becomes difficult to take it off. Moreover, cleaning the melted tape becomes really quite difficult and tiresome.
  • Some people usually like to use rafts, but they’re definitely vital. A lot of parts have a span requiring minimal support to ensure that they do not tend to underperform. It’s always advisable to check everything is balanced.
  • Always keep a small file set in order for cleaning up rafts and supports. The best idea is to use the Exacto knife.
  • You won’t see much noticeable difference between ABS or PLA tape. Overall, the printer works great with both of them.
  • Putting your finished print in an acetone filled ziplock is highly recommended to deliver a smooth and shiny finish. Though it’s not mandatory to do so, it will definitely provide a good finish.
  • If you want to get better outputs and check that the guide tubes don’t rub against the dome cover, it’s better to trim them down by 2.5 inches.
